Labour candidate for Hamilton East, Georgie Dansey (Ngāti Tūwharetoa), has cast her vote at St John’s Methodist Church in Hamilton East, calling on locals to participate early in the election process.
“It’s awesome to cast my vote today, a very easy process. Early voting, get in quick everybody,”
Dansey expressed her excitement at voting alongside her team and supporters, reflecting that seeing her name on the ballot represented the collective effort put into the campaign across the electorate.
“I think it’s a reflection of all the incredible hard work not just that I’ve done but my team have done and being able to vote alongside some members of my team today was really special,”
With Election Day only 10 days away, Dansey highlighted the dedication her team has shown throughout the race.
“We’ve worked really really hard on this campaign and it’s really a celebration of all the incredible hard work that we have all done leading to this point,”
Dansey stands on a platform of strong advocacy for marginalised communities, workers and local families. She believes that moving from a list MP to the electorate representative for Hamilton East will allow her to more effectively advocate for the needs of Kirikiriroa in Parliament.
