Te Arawa kapa haka enthusiasts should pack their rain gear for a changeable day as the regional competition continues. The latest forecast by MetService, issued at 6:14am this morning, suggests performers and spectators will see a break in the weather, though it won’t last all day. It is still very humid.
The morning is set to kick off with showers, which may be heavy at times, but the good news is that these are expected to clear, offering a window of drier weather for the mid-day performances.
However, the change will be short-lived. Showers are forecast to return in the late afternoon, with the possibility of being heavy, as southwesterlies shift to a southeasterly direction. Those attending the evening sessions should be prepared for potential downpours.
With the sun rising at 7:09am and setting later at 7:39pm, the regionals will benefit from a long day of natural light.
